Welcome to the Certified International Student Advisor -CISA programme

An Education Agent Training Course, which has been designed to support excellence and professional standards in international education.

The CISA is a practical, professional training course for agency-based student counsellors. It provides student counsellors with:

An understanding of the overall international education market and the main destination countries for international students
The skills and research parameters to analyse destination countries and their education products and processes
The functional dynamics of dealing with students, education institutions, and governments.

The course covers three areas:

The Context of International Education: Destination countries, education systems, legal requirements, visas application and documentation.
The People in International Education: Students, education institutions’ personnel, and immigration authorities.
Promoting International Education: Working effectively, marketing, and ethics.

There are about sixteen countries discussed in this course. However, student counsellors running this course are encouraged to be more specific in choosing destinations so as to be better informed in area of specialty.

By the end of the course, you should be able to:

Have a clear view of the education system and the regulatory system across these destinations.

EDUCATION SYSTEMS
This chapter summarizes the following questions: How is the education system structured in destination countries? REGULATORY SYSTEMS, VISAS AND LEGAL REQUIREMNTS
International education in a destination country is most likely controlled by legislation and associated regulations at national and state/regional levels. This lesson examines common laws and regulations relating to international education and outlines how they operate. Focus Questions How are the regulatory systems structured in destination countries?
